In this lesson plan, teachers will use the Age of Exploration as a framework for teaching students about two cognitive biases, the Overconfidence Bias and the In-group Bias. Overconfidence bias causes people to overestimate their abilities, knowledge, or chances of being correct about something. The In-group bias cause people to view members of their group in a more positive light than outsiders, without good reason.
